How to Wire the PL1617 and PL1612 for 110v

When wiring the PL1617 and PL1612 it is quite simple. Just remember that the volt switch is what tells the motor what voltage is coming in, and these pumps come pre-set to 220v on the switch. This is a step-by-step how-to guide for wiring the PL1617 and PL1612 to 110v.

Tools Needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Volt meter or non-contact volt meter

Supplies Needed:

  • Quick disconnects for wires
  • PL1617 or PL1612 pump

Step 1

Turn the Power off at the Breaker.

Turn off the power to the motor by flipping the breaker off.

Step 2

Make Sure the Power is Off

Using a volt meter or non-contact volt meter, check your wires coming from your power source to make sure there is no power going to them.

Step 3

Remove the Back Motor Cap

Unscrew the two screws on the back cap using a Philips screwdriver. Then pull the cap off gently, making sure you don’t accidentally disconnect any wires.

Connect your Wire Whip

Connect the Ground Wire

Connect your ground wire to the screw in the back that has the letters GRD next to it.

Step 6

Connect the Power wires

Using quick disconnects Connect the wires to terminals 1 and 2.

Note: It does not matter which wire goes to terminal 1 or 2 as long as they are on those terminals. 

Step 7

Reattach the Back Cap.

Step 8

Flip the Voltage Switch

Using a Philips head screwdriver remove the two screws from the volt switch cover and flip the switch to 110v.

Step 9

Turn the Power Back on at the Breaker.
