Will Switching to the Pureline PL5889 Save Me Money?

Yes. This cost-effective bulb is an excellent LED light upgrade that offers two main ways to save: a lower initial cost compared to expensive OEM bulbs, and long-term savings thanks to its energy-efficient technology.

It provides significant energy savings, dramatically reducing electricity costs compared to older incandescent models, allowing for bright, year-round illumination at a fraction of the cost. Also, its long lifespan of 50,000 hours minimizes the need for frequent replacements, resulting in fewer bulb purchases and reduced long-term labor costs for pool maintenance.

What Kind of Lighting Effects Does It Offer?

The PureColors™ Replacement LED Bulb features seven vivid solid colors and nine dynamic light shows to create a captivating atmosphere. Plus, the Synchronized Lighting feature ensures multiple bulbs can run in perfect unison.

Which Do I Need, the 120V or the 12V Light Bulb?

Does My Pool Light Run On 120 or 12 Volts

Choosing the correct voltage for your pool light is essential. While both bulbs use the same cost-effective, modern LED technology, it is very important to choose the right voltage to avoid overwhelming the circuit and shorting your bulb.

  • 120V Pool Lights (Standard Voltage): In the US, we use 120-volt as our standard electricity supply, so 120V lights are straightforward. Lights like the Pureline PL5889 can plug directly into your home’s standard electrical system. They run at line voltage and do not require any extra equipment like transformers.
  • 12V Pool Lights (Low Voltage): These lights need an extra component: a transformer. This device steps the power down from 120V to the safer 12V before it reaches the light. Many pool owners prefer this option for added safety, even though it means buying and installing a 12V transformer between the power source and the light.

Always match the bulb’s voltage to the circuit. If you try to install a 12V bulb on a 120V circuit, you will almost certainly burn it out immediately. Check out this article on our website for even more information: Does My Pool Light Run On 120 or 12 Volts?

Is the PL5889 Compatible With My Existing Pool Fixture?

The standard Edison screw-in base makes it so that this bulb will fit easily into many existing pool and spa fixtures, and it is a compatible aftermarket replacement for the Hayward® Astrolite SP0580 Series, the Hayward® DuraLite SP0570 Series, and the Pentair® Amerlite 784 Series. It is important to know that the PL5889 is not compatible with Swimquip® light fixtures or the Hayward® SP0540 Series, nor will it synchronize with older (pre-2023) Pureline LED pool lights.

Do Customers Recommend the Pureline PL5889?

Pool owners love this bulb, but don’t just take our word for it. This has a perfect five-star rating from customers, with many loving the ease of installation, fun color options, and the overall value. In their review, one customer said:

“This LED bulb transformed the look of my pool. I had a white incandescent bulb and now I can change to 16 different light programs with the flick of a switch. I had called a pool company about changing to an LED bulb and they told me that I had to change the light fixture which would have cost well over a $1,000. But then I found this light on the INYOPOOLS website which had instructions on how to change the bulb and I was able to easily change the bulb myself.”

Another customer said:

“My old incandescent white light was too bright for me, so I thought I’d try this one. It has several different colors and “light shows” for whatever mood you’re in. You simply turn your light switch off and then back on to change to the next show. No more boring white light!”
