In Episode 2 of the INYOPools Podcast, we talk about the three types of pool filters: sand, cartridge, and diatomaceous earth. With our pool pros discussing how each filter type works, what pool applications each is best suited for, and finally, our verdict on our preferred filter type.
Efficient and properly sized pool filters are vital to a clean and happy pool. An undersized pool filter can cause unwanted backpressure in your plumbing that slows the potential flow rate of your pump. A low pool pump flow rate will cause you to run the pool pump for longer to compensate, which costs more money and strains your equipment. The drop in suction and return line pressure can also affect the pool basin’s circulation. Weak circulation can lead to circulation dead spots in your pool, where debris and bacteria can be allowed to gather. Lingering dirt debris raises chlorine demand and could affect other water chemistry levels.
We discuss all that and have a good bit of fun along the way. We hope you enjoy the show, and make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss an episode.
